Update 8th July 2005

Yesterday London was bombed.

Normally I would be horrified with what's happened. As would most normal people in the civilised world. Because this wasn't civilised. It was senseless - as was the 911 attacks. Aimed at the average worker trying to get to work - the people of London suffered a double whammy. The trains stopped running, so they made way to buses, only to find they weren't safe there either.

My heart skipped a beat when I saw the first newsflashes. My mother is in the UK, and for a moment, in utter confusion and disbelief, I couldn't rememeber what day she was due in London - thankfully she isn't due there for another day or so. Selfishly, I am grateful she isn't there now, but my heart goes out to the familes of those who were caught by the bombings. I send a prayer for all those who are affected directly and indirectly by what has happened.

A Note to the Terrorists:     This will not shake our resolve, you will not ground us down - you may have stopped us for a moment in time, but we will fight on and vanquish terrorism - be assured.

An online friend has written a beautiful tribute to London and its people, please take a moment to read Christina's poem. It will open in a new window.

As London Cries
